Sudan: WHO warns of deepening humanitarian crisis

WHO

More than two-thirds of Sudan’s hospitals are inoperable, and the World Health Organization (WHO) is expressing concern about a worsening humanitarian crisis.

There are increasing reports of attacks on medical offices and personnel.

The reports say life is still precarious for the hundreds of thousands who have fled the violence and crossed borders.

According to the WHO, the disruption of fundamental public health services has led to an increase in disease outbreaks, including dengue, measles, and malaria, which were previously well under control.

Additionally, it states that there are more reports of gender-based and sexual violence against women and girls.

WHO

There have been numerous attempts at peace negotiations, but none of them have succeeded in achieving a legitimate ceasefire.

The WHO has urged all combatants to keep civilians, aid workers, and medical facilities safe.
