NPP delegates vote on January 27 for parliamentary candidates in 2024

On January 27, 2024, delegates from the ruling New Patriotic Party are set to participate in polls to choose parliamentary candidates for different constituencies leading up to the general elections in December.

Candidates have already been chosen for constituencies without incumbent MPs, referred to as orphan constituencies, and the party has now slated January 27 for primaries in constituencies where it secured victories during the 2020 elections.

With a total of 326 candidates cleared for the primaries, several sitting MPs are running uncontested in the elections.

Below is the regional breakdown of the MPs not being contested:

Greater Accra Region:
Patrick Yaw Boamah – Okaikoi Central MP
Lydia Seyram Alhassan – Ayawaso West Wuogon MP

Savannah Region
Samuel Abu Jinapor – Damongo MP

Upper West Region

Northern Region

Central Region
