Bryan Randall, a photographer and long-term partner of actress Sandra Bullock, has died at the age of 57.

His family has confirmed that he died after receiving an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis three years ago.

Randall’s family issued a statement in which they expressed they were “immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness”.

Bullock’s sister praised the Hollywood star for providing “amazing” care for her husband in his final years.

Gesine Bullock-Prado wrote on Instagram, “ALS is a cruel disease but there is some comfort in knowing he had the best of caretakers in my amazing sister and the band of nurses she assembled who helped her look after him in their home.”

She continued, “I’m convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon.”

The photographer’s family stated that he “chose early to keep his journey with ALS private,” adding that “those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.

“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.

“At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”

Sandra Bullock is best known for her roles in the movies Speed, Gravity, and Miss Congeniality. She received an Oscar nomination in 2010 for her performance in The Blind Side.
