Let’s Do Away With Politics Of Ethnicity – Joe Ghartey

A Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party has urged NPP delegates to shun ethnic and tribal politics.

In a meeting with the Upper West Regional Executive Committee on June 21, 2023, in Wa, he made this known to them.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that they shouldn’t ever be used as the foundation for racial or tribal politics.

According to Hon. Ghartey, the tradition’s founders, notably R. S. Dombo, would never be forgotten.

However, he insisted that they should never be used as a foundation for racial or tribal politics.

He stated that our country was founded in 1957. To become Ghana, portions of Trans Volta Togoland, the Ashanti region, the Gold Coast, and the North were united.

“Since then we have remained a nation; one nation”, he said.

According to Joe Ghartey, if we allowed race to influence our politics, we would be planting a poisonous and dangerous seed, and the results would undoubtedly be bitter.

He said that delegates should vote for the best candidate without considering the candidate’s background.

Joe Ghartey stated that the work a candidate has done over the years for the NPP is one of, if not the most important, consideration for him.

He stated that he began working with NPP in 1992 and recalled, among other things, his contribution to the Stolen Verdict’s 1993 composition.

Those in attendance attested to his devoted service to the Party and remembered his work in 2009 during the Jirrapa by-election that occurred as a result of the passing of Hon. Edward Salia.
