Presidency releases KPMG audit report on GRA-SML deal following public pressure

The presidency has released the KPMG audit report on the deal between the GRA and SML, responding to demands from anti-corruption CSOs

The presidency has released the KPMG audit report on the deal between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML), responding to demands from anti-corruption civil society organizations and concerned individuals.

Initially, the presidency withheld the report, stating that it contained “opinions, advice, deliberations, and recommendations integral to the President’s deliberative process,” making it exempt under section 5 (1) (a) and (b) (i) of the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

However, in a press release dated May 22, Director of Communications Eugene Arhin announced that “the President, in the interest of full transparency in governance, openness, and honesty with the public, has decided to waive the privilege under section 5 of the RTI Act and has directed the publication of the KPMG report in full.”
