A tragic incident occurred in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where part of a crane fell from a building, resulting in one fatality and three injuries.

The accident occurred during a construction crew’s efforts to increase the crane’s height, leading to a section of the crane becoming detached and falling.

The fallen crane section landed on a car passing over a bridge, causing severe damage to the vehicle and tragically resulting in the death of a construction worker who was working on the crane at the time.

Two injured individuals were transported to the hospital, while a third received treatment at the scene.

The collapse occurred around 4:30 PM local time, prompting officials to launch an investigation into the cause of the accident.

According to reports, the crane itself remained connected to the building despite the collapse of a platform and parts of the crane.

Witnesses described the harrowing experience, with one driver narrowly escaping harm as the crane piece struck his car and then landed on another vehicle.

Residents in the area also mentioned hearing unsettling screams from the construction site during the incident.

As a result of the collapse, the Southeast 3rd Avenue bridge has been closed indefinitely, and city officials have advised motorists to avoid the area until further notice.

Additionally, the New River beneath the bridge has been closed to marine traffic as authorities continue their investigation.

The incident has sparked concerns about construction safety and the need for thorough assessments to prevent such tragedies in the future.
