Walk The Talk – Speaker Advises Parliamentarians

He said the theme, 30 years of Parliamentary democracy under the 4th Republic, the journey thus far, calls for stocktaking to understand challenges, successes, and opportunities.
” Where campaign promises turn out to be mere words, with no intention of making any of them happen, then it translates into the categorization of politicians as individuals who acknowledge no responsibility for those who elected them,” He said.
He said, with all the imperfections associated with the current governance system, there is still no alternative better than that of Ghana, adding that democracy is an unending journey.
He called on MPs to interact with their constituents regularly.
He said, ” The other lack of responsibility has to do with the extent to which we as politicians keep the citizens abreast with issues that are of importance to them.
How often do we explain and justify our actions to them, and respect their views and perspectives? “
The Western Regional Kobina Okyere Darko Mensah also said the forum will foster positive dialogue and promote local participation in developmental and decision-making activities.
