Music artist Wendy Shay has expressed her view that the comparisons being made between her and fellow artist Gyakie are unjustified.

During an interview, the artist signed to Ruff Town Records emphasized that they are distinctively talented individuals and should be acknowledged for their unique styles and sounds.

The ongoing debates among Ghana’s music enthusiasts and critics about the parallels between Wendy Shay and Gyakie have caught attention.

Although both musicians have achieved considerable success in the industry, the general sentiment in Ghana is that Gyakie is making a bigger impact on the international stage compared to Wendy Shay.

In response, Wendy stated, “it’s not fair to even compare. You know, I have been doing and giving hits back-to-back for five years so there shouldn’t be any comparison. I am an international artiste as well and I am working towards it to become a global artiste.”

The artist behind the hit track ‘Survivor’ clarified that female artists shouldn’t be seen as competitors but rather as individuals who can shine and be celebrated for their distinct talents.

Wendy Shay emphasized that success is a result of hard work and self-improvement, emphasizing, “The race is not for the swift; once you’re working hard and working on yourself, you are going to get wherever you put your mind to,” Wendy added.

She further highlighted that these comparisons can often be demotivating for artists and hinder their creative progress. Instead, she urged for unity among music enthusiasts.
