High Court rejects Gyakye Quayson’s contempt complaint against KT Hammond

Court

A High Court in Accra has thrown out the contempt case involving Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir Hammond.

Lawyers representing Assin North Member of Parliament James Gyakye Quayson took the Trades and Industry Minister to court.

K.T. Hammond, known affectionately by that name, faced accusations of making comments during a media interview that were considered detrimental to the criminal case against Quayson, who is being charged with dual citizenship.

Nevertheless, the court rejected the case on October 19, 2023, as the judge emphasized that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to secure a conviction.

Furthermore, the judge determined that Hammond’s remarks were not meant to disrupt the criminal case against Quayson.
