NDC Demands Immediate Resignation Of The Attorney General Over Cover-Up In Illegal Mining Reports

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding that the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, resign because his role as AG perverts the cause of justice.

The call follows Mr Dame’s claims that the 35-page report presented by Professor Frimpong Boateng on the state of the country’s water bodies and illegal mining lacks merit for prosecution.

The National Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, speaking at the Moment of Truth series, alleged that the AG is covering up for state officials caught in several corrupt cases and said it is shameful and disrespectful to Ghanaians.

” It is quite clear this man Godfred Dame does not befit the stature of a high office of Attorney General and Minister of Justice because he simply doesn’t give a hoot about the interest of Ghana.

The NDC therefore demands the immediate resignation of the Attorney General for this dubious illegal advice which seeks to cover up serious crimes that have been perpetrated against the state by corrupt government and NPP functionaries who are destroying our water bodies and forests through illegal mining,”

He made a call to the special prosecutor not to relent in his effort to those caught in the book report.

Mr. Gyamfi said, ” We call on the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyabeng to expedite his investigations into this matter and to immediately prosecute all those found culpable.

Fellow country men our collective survival as a nation is at stake here. Our beloved country is fast losing its fauna and water bodies. We are fast becoming an endangered species due to the greed and selfishness of a few government officials, party approaches, and irresponsible persons who are recklessly engaging in illegal mining with impunity.”
