Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has announced that the shortage of passport booklet is due to the effect of Covid-19 on global supply chains.

According to her, the government is putting in measures to resolve the challenges which have led to it acquiring some 300,000 booklets this month.

She however, assured all applicants who have not received their passports due to the current shortage of passport booklets that they will get them soon.

“The booklet that we have in stock are less than the demand at the backlog that we have. Fortunately, we will receive booklet around the 13th of this month way more than what the numbers that we have in the system that we haven’t issued, and at the end of the month we will have another 150, 000.

So we are expecting over Three Hundred Thousand this month. What we are going to do is to put out a message. We will print out as many as possible especially starting from the backlog,” She said.
