Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko, popularly known as OV, a dancehall artist, has expressed her admiration for Black Sherif and stated that he is a source of motivation for her.

During an interview with Giovanni Caleb on Showbiz 360, the winner of Season 7 of MTN Hitmaker praised Black Sherif, who was named VGMA 2023 Artiste of the Year, for his achievements in his music career.

“I’m proud of him. I’m proud of him. He has motivated me. He is one of the people who made me feel like I should slow down and just keep going,” OV responded when asked about her thoughts on Black Sherif’s musical journey.

In a previous interview on 3FM Drive with Giovanni Caleb, OV revealed that her sudden departure from Stonebwoy’s record label had caused her to experience depression and mental instability, leading to an extended hiatus from the music scene.

“It was after the exit. It was something that hit me very hard. It got me thinking, ‘Am I not enough?’ It started giving me doubts about deserving to be on a label. It put me through a state that I would not wish for my enemy. It put me through a lot. I was depressed. It got to a point where I stayed away from everybody,” OV explained.

OV, who shared that she has now recovered from her traumatic experiences, took the opportunity to inform her fans that she is back and ready to continue her music career.

“I’ve been around. I have been doing music, just that I was away from the mainstream. I’ve been through so much… I had to take a break to heal and recover. I was depressed as well,” she shared.

While OV declined to provide further details about her trauma, she briefly mentioned going through post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and emphasized her focus on moving forward, creating more music, and being more visible in the industry.

Prior to her departure from Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music Group, OV released successful songs such as “Zaddy,” “Want Me,” and “What You Want/Everyday.
