On Thursday, July 25, Ghana Fire Service personnel rescued a young woman named Alima from a precarious position between the piers and deck of the flyover in front of the Odawna market at the Kwame Nkrumah interchange.

Witnesses were uncertain how Alima ended up there, with some speculating she intended to jump the flyover. A witness mentioned that people pleaded with her not to jump until fire service personnel arrived.

Another witness recounted the scene, stating that people gathered suddenly and were unsure how Alima got between the pillars, with some even suggesting she was a witch.

Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One of the GNFS, Daniel Appiah, detailed the rescue. He explained that civilians alerted the fire service, who then navigated a narrow space to reach and rescue Alima.

Afterward, she was handed over to the National Ambulance Service for medical evaluation and then taken to the hospital.

Materials such as books, pen drives, and mobile phone cases were found near the rescue site, indicating she might not have been alone there.

Portia Ofori, an Advanced CMT at the Circle Ambulance Station, narrated that Alima revealed she had been residing at the overpass with a man and confirmed she had been discharged from the hospital.

Initially uncommunicative, Alima eventually disclosed she had been taken there by a man who had been exploiting her. After providing her with food and some money, the responders asked her to leave the base.
