Renowned composer Richard M Sherman, famous for his collaborations with his late brother Robert on iconic Disney film tunes like those in Mary Poppins, has passed away at 95 in Beverly Hills.

The duo earned two Oscars in 1965 for their contributions to Mary Poppins, alongside composing beloved melodies like Trust in Me from The Jungle Book and Truly Scrumptious from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Disney announced Sherman’s demise, citing “age-related illness” as the cause, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The Sherman brothers were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005 and were honored with the US National Medal of the Arts in 2008.

Their extensive repertoire also includes The Aristocats, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Winnie the Pooh shorts for Disney.

Their life and work were depicted in the film *Saving Mr. Banks* in 2013, showcasing their journey in creating Mary Poppins’ enchanting tunes.

Sherman’s creative prowess extended to contemporary hits like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Chim Chim Cher-ee, both earning Oscars.
