Shooting at Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade leaves one dead, 21 injured

In Missouri, a shooting at the conclusion of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade resulted in one fatality and 21 injuries.

Among the wounded were eight individuals in critical condition and seven with potentially life-threatening injuries. Nine children, all expected to recover, were also among the victims.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.

At a press conference, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves revealed that 22 people were struck by gunfire, with one fatality.

Over 800 police officers, already monitoring the parade, responded immediately.

The Fire Department provided prompt assistance to the injured.

Tragically, a local radio DJ, Lisa Lopez, lost her life in the shooting.

The surviving victims were swiftly transported to three local hospitals, with Children’s Mercy Hospital treating nine children with gunshot wounds.

Chief nursing officer Stephanie Meyer described the victims’ overwhelming fear upon arrival.

Apart from gunshot injuries, local hospitals attended to individuals injured in the stampede following the shooting.

City officials did not release the victims’ names or provide details about the arrested suspects, citing an unclear motive.

A law enforcement source suggested the shooting resulted from a violent argument rather than terrorism.

The gunfire occurred west of Union Station, where the parade ended, causing chaos among the thousands of fans gathered.

Reports indicated that Kansas City Chiefs players were still on stage when the shots rang out, prompting the crowd, including the mayor and his family, to flee for cover.

Witness Paul Contreras recounted assisting in subduing a suspect who dropped a gun during the struggle.
