Inflation rate for December has decreased from 26.4% to 23.2%

For the fifth consecutive month, there has been a decline in inflation, with December 2023 registering a rate of 23.2%.

This implies that the overall price level in December 2023 was 23.2% higher than in December 2022.

According to the recently released Consumer Price Index (CPI) data on January 10, food inflation was at 28.7%, while non-food inflation was recorded at 18.7%.

Inflation for locally produced items was at 23.8%, whereas inflation for imported items stood at 21.9%.

Regionally, the Eastern region reported the highest food inflation rate at 51.3%, while the Upper East recorded the lowest at 18.8%.

Notably, Greater Accra ranked 14th out of the 16 regions, with a food inflation rate of 22.2%.
