National Rental Assistance To Deter Rent Advance Launched

For many Ghanaians, finding housing and the related financial load continue to be severe problems.

The National Rental Assistance Scheme was established by the government to solve the issue, and it is aimed mostly at young people and lower-income families.

By providing a platform for monthly rent payments, the initiative will, among other things, deter tenants from paying rent in advance.

According to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who today launched the program in Accra, it is a policy intervention that will lessen the burden on Ghanaians because tenants will receive low-interest loans that are due each month.

In order to do this, a New Rent Bill has been presented to Parliament for approval.

In order to alleviate low- to middle-income earners of the pressure of paying rent in advance, the National Rental Assistance Scheme facilitates accessible and inexpensive rental accommodation.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the program, which will be put into effect in collaboration with the business sector, would close the knowledge and financial gap between landlords and tenants.

He also mentioned that the Rent Control Department is being digitalized.

Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Works and Housing, declared that his ministry is dedicated to resolving the nation’s housing problems.
He said that the initiative has been allocated 30 million Ghana Cedis as seed money.

Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, the TUC’s Secretary General, stated that the union completely supports the program. However, he urged the Ministry to prioritize women, particularly single moms.
