The inflation rate for September 2023 has declined to 38.1 percent from the 40.1 recorded in August.
This indicates that year-on-year, the average prices of goods and services between September 2022 and 2023 went up by 38.1%.
This represents a 2.0 per cent decrease.
At a media briefing, Government Statistician, Prof Samuel Kobina Annim attributed the decline in food inflation which recorded 49.4 per cent, and nonfood inflation to 29.3 per cent.
Meanwhile, an Economist and Lecturer at the Garden City University College, Dr. Francis Tandoh in an interview on Beach FM has urged Ghanaians not to expect a decrease in the prices of goods and services.
According to him, the inflation rate of 38. 1 per cent is still high for a developing country like Ghana and called for support for those in the agricultural sector to boost local production.
He projected that the country could maintain the inflation rate by the close of the year if all goes well with the policies put in place by the government.
