NAGRAT calls on government to enhance teachers’ working conditions
The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is urgently calling on the government to resume negotiations with all teacher unions in the country to address lingering issues related to their conditions of service, which were raised last year.
NAGRAT emphasizes the importance of initiating these negotiations promptly and concluding them swiftly to prevent potential uncertainties that could lead to strike actions.
During a media briefing at the Adonten Senior High School in the Akuapem South Municipality, as part of activities marking NAGRAT’s 25th Anniversary Celebrations, Awoonor Yevu Godwin, the Eastern Regional Chairman of NAGRAT, clarified that their request is not tied to the upcoming election year.
He urged the government to demonstrate a commitment to the welfare of teachers by engaging in negotiations promptly.
“We are asking the government to begin negotiations with the leadership of all the teacher unions in the country so that in the shortest possible time, they will come out with a very good proposal and come to the table and all teachers will know what the government has for us,” stated Awoonor Yevu Godwin during the event.
