Leaders of NAGRAT expresses anger regarding new academic calendar

NAGRAT

The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has issued a warning that its members may go on work breaks if the government doesn’t engage in discussions to revert to the trimester system for the academic calendar.

This comes in response to the recently released academic calendar, which has form 2 and form 3 students under the single-track system starting their academic year on November 1 and concluding on March 6.

Form two students under the double-track system are set to begin on March 8 and continue until May 9, leaving little time for teachers to have their much-needed rest periods.

Angel Carbonu, the President of NAGRAT, explained in an interview that the association may be compelled to withdraw its members if the government does not return to the trimester system.

He expressed concern about the ongoing confusion in the educational sector and called for a more disciplined approach to ending the double-track system within a specified timeframe.

Carbonu also emphasized that teachers should not continue working without the rest periods they require.
