Two teenage brothers were arrested following a tragic incident where their sister lost her life in a dispute over Christmas gifts.
The 23-year-old was fatally shot in the chest while carrying her 10-month-old son, allegedly by her younger teenage brother.
Subsequently, the older brother, aged 15, fired at the younger brother, who had wielded the gun.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting stemmed from an argument regarding the distribution of presents.
Sheriff Bob Gualtieri revealed that the 15-year-old fled the scene after discarding his firearm, while the 14-year-old, injured but stable, will be taken into custody upon release from the hospital.
Authorities are deliberating whether the 14-year-old will face adult charges for his sister’s killing.
Tragically, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital due to internal bleeding, though miraculously, her baby in the carrier remained unharmed.
The 15-year-old has been apprehended and charged with attempted first-degree murder and evidence tampering as investigations continue.
