Ada

On Sunday, November 5, 2023, two students from Ada Senior High School (SHS) in the Greater Accra region tragically drowned in the Volta River.

The students, whose identities remain unknown, were believed to be between 16 and 18 years old and had reportedly left the school without permission to swim in the nearby Volta River.

Local residents attempted to rescue them upon spotting them, but sadly, their efforts were in vain.

According to an eyewitness, the students had gone to the river to fetch water due to a shortage of water at the school.

The school authorities reported the incident to the Ada police station, and the students were subsequently taken to the district hospital for further attention.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
