Nzema Youth Association and Residents of Jomoro Express Unhappiness Over Sameye’s Bad Roads; Call for Urgent Action from Ghana Gas
Road users and inhabitants of Jomoro, in the Nzema East Municipal Assembly of the Western region, are growing increasingly agitated over the deteriorating state of the Sameye road network in the area, despite assurances from authorities to fix the roads.
The Sameye barrier stretches to Half-Assini, which takes 30 minutes but now takes several hours.
The Nzema Youth Association, together with residents, find this situation unacceptable, especially considering the numerous assurances from government officials while the situation keeps getting worse.
Nana Blay Miezah, a member of the concerned youth of Nzema, addressing the media at a press conference, says a petition will be forwarded to Ghana Gas Limited.
“It takes 5 hours to access the Sameye Road because of the poor state of the road. This shows how terrible the road has become.
We are pleading with Ghana Gas to help fix the road for us. When the company was being constructed, this road was used, and as such, other companies too. If the road is tattered, it shouldn’t be hectic for them to fix,” he said.
Some residents in an interview shared some challenges the road poses to them.
Ida Cudjoe observed that pregnant women risk losing their unborn babies due to the bad shape of the road.
“It usually takes me 15 minutes to access the road, but now it’s no longer an issue. This road does not only pose a danger to pregnant women but also to commercial drivers. They should make it a priority to get the road fixed for us.”
