2023 licensure exams see over 9,000 teachers failing

Out of the 20,181 teachers who participated in the 2023 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 2&3, a significant proportion, totaling 9,556 individuals—exceeding 30%—did not meet the required pass mark.

As per the announcement from the National Teaching Council (NTC), the official release of results is scheduled for Thursday, December 21, 2023. The NTC statement reveals that 10,625 teachers, constituting 52.6% of the candidates, successfully passed the examinations.

The NTC emphasizes that the results will be officially disclosed through its website, and candidates can access their outcomes by utilizing their unique examination pins.

The statement from the NTC reads, “The National Teaching Council (NTC) is set to release the results of the 2023 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 2&3 on Thursday, December 21, 2023.”

The summary of candidates’ performance is as follows:

  • Total number of candidates: 20,181
  • Total pass: 10,625 (52.6%)
  • Total fail: 9,556 (47.4%)

Regarding the procedure for result checking, the Council instructs candidates to visit the NTC online portal at exam.ntc.gov.gh, where they can enter either their provided pins during registration or their examination index numbers linked to their phone numbers.

Candidates are advised to print their provisional certificates after reviewing their results.
