Motorists Lament Over Bad Nature Of Ahanta West Road Network

Drivers who ply Apowa- Takoradi have bemoaned the unmotorable nature of the road network which disrupts business as well as their vehicles.

Some drivers in an interview with Beach Newsroom, beckoned on the authorities in charge to fix the deplorable roads, which cause traffic congestion.

The drivers including those who ply their trade in the New Amanful community also lamented bitterly about how deteriorated the roads have become.

They say there is no use in paying road worth fees, and other road levies since the government sits aloof and does nothing about repairing the road.

The drivers observe that the majority of the roads in the region especially in the Metropolis are nothing to write home about.

They said, “Our roads are in a very deplorable state. Every day, we witness a very long traffic jam on this stretch. When it rains we are unable to do our job as drivers because we stand the risk of taking our cars to the mechanic shop for repairs. It’s very worrying. As drivers, we feel dejected. “

” We pay road worthy and expect the money we pay to be put to good use, our roads are very bad. The Tarkwa-Takoradi road is a very important road, it needs an immediate facelift. All the main and most important roads in this region are in bad states, we feel very neglected here in the western region yet we contribute a lot to the development of this country. We are pleading with our leaders to fix our roads “

Traders, who sell along the roadside say their business is dwindling, the place they set up their wares mostly gets flooded because of failure to re-construct the road.

” I sell cake, biscuits, bread and other pastries here. The problem we are facing is, the chocked gutters get flooded whenever it rains, due to that we are unable to sell. The road is very bad, there are a lot of potholes on the road which cause traffic jams so we are calling for help,”

” This place gets very busy every morning because of the workers who are going to work and also students who are going to school. The cars can’t move freely due to the potholes on the road which cause traffic jams. So we are pleading with the government to come to our aid by filling the potholes or reconstructing the road so that we can trade our wares here,” The traders said.
