The Manager of Electricity and Natural Gas Regulation at the Energy Commission, Mr. Adolf Nii Ashun, has indicated that only professional electricians are mandated by law to undertake writing and electoral installation.
According to him, drastic action would soon be taken against property owners who fail to use certified electricians.
He mentioned this during a ceremony in Takoradi, where One Hundred trained electricians received certification by the Commission.
The move is to combat the frequent fire outbreaks caused by faulty electrical wiring and substandard cables and fittings.
Mr. Emmanuel Pyne, Head of the Electrical Department of the Takoradi Technical University pointed out that fire incidents have been reduced due to the certification of electricians.
He further called for an extension of such programs to rural communities.
