Environmental Protection Agency Schuffles Western Regional Director And Others Following Explosion At Shama

The Environmental Protection Agency, EPA has undertaken a major reshuffle, including the transfer of the Western Regional Director, Dr. George Diawuo, after the explosion in Shama last Sunday.

A letter signed by the Executive Director, Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu asked the Western Regional Director to move to Accra for reassignment.

As part of the reshuffle, the Central Regional Director will assume responsibilities in the Western Region. Additionally, other regional directors, including the Ashanti Regional Director, have also undergone reshuffling.

The co-owner of the quarry that exploded in Shama last Sunday is still wanted, according to the EPA and the police, who are conducting the search.

Apparently killed in the explosion was the other owner, who was a Chinese national.

The EPA was able to talk with some personnel who said they weren’t at the scene when the event happened thanks to the local Assembly member.

They did offer the co-contact owner’s information, a Ghanaian who is apparently in Accra.
