Assakae -Whindo Methodist and New Takoradi-Poase Benefits From Rotary Club Of Takoradi – Anaji Donations
Two communities within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have benefited from separate donations from the Rotary Club of Takoradi- Anaji.
The first beneficiary is the Assakae-Whindo Methodist School, which has received 10 solar-powered street lights in a bid to improve the security situation on the campus.
At a short ceremony, the Club President for Takoradi-Anaji, Edwin Kofi Amanor, speaking to Beach News, said the donation was necessary because the school was faced with theft issues as the school was engulfed in darkness, which mostly attracts thieves into the school premises.
The gesture is to help nip the menace of theft in the bud.
“We donated solar streetlights to the school to brighten up the place. This streetlight has a motion sensor that scares away theft issues.
This is solar-powered, which won’t add extra costs to the school. We will make sure there is maintenance from time to time,” He said.
Assembly Member for Assakae, Alex Nana Acheampong, confirmed that the school indeed was faced with theft, and was grateful to the club for the gesture.
He said, “The lighting system was very bad. Last year, whiteboards for the junior high school block were stolen because of little illumination on the campus. I am grateful to the Rotary Club of Takoradi-Anaji.”
As part of the event, seedlings were planted by both club members and students.
This according to the Club President, Edwin Kofi Amanor is to maintain the sustenance and improve on the green and tree planting initiative.
The Rotary Takoradi – Anaji club also donated a trash can dustbin to the inhabitants of New-Takoradi Poase in a quest to improve sanitation in the community.
