Renowned musician Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has addressed his side of the story regarding his involvement with actress Yvonne Nelson and the contentious issue of abortion in his recently released track.

Yvonne Nelson, in her tell-all book titled ‘I am not Yvonne Nelson’, revealed that she had a relationship with the rapper in 2010, resulting in a pregnancy.

In Chapter 8 of her book, she details her decision to terminate the pregnancy due to Sarkodie’s alleged refusal to take responsibility. According to her, she later discovered that Sarkodie had another girlfriend who was studying abroad, which influenced his rejection.

In response to Yvonne Nelson’s allegations, Sarkodie released a song called ‘Try Me,’ directly addressing her. He claims that he never encouraged the actress to have an abortion.

While he admits that he wasn’t ready to be a father at the time, he asserts that he advised Yvonne to keep the pregnancy. However, Yvonne chose to proceed with the abortion due to her educational pursuits.

Sarkodie clarifies in his song that Yvonne should not portray him as the one pressuring her for an abortion, stating, “So don’t make it seem like I was the one pushing you for abortion.”

He further reveals that there were certain things he thought would remain secrets, implying that the abortion could have remained undisclosed. Nevertheless, he commends Yvonne for her bravery in sharing her side of the story but asserts that she cannot selectively choose what to disclose to the public.

Moreover, Sarkodie advises Yvonne not to portray herself as a victim or create the impression that she was seeking love. He cautions her, saying, “Baby girl, don’t try me.”
