Public Urged To Patronise Health Insurance Scheme

The District Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority at the Takoradi Office, Mr Charles Osei-Amoako Enti, urged every Ghanaian to get registered for Health insurance.

According to him, health insurance is “a social intervention that was implemented to take care of basic access to health care without financial stress”.

Beach FM in April engaged stakeholders in the insurance sector to educate its listeners as part of insurance awareness initiatives.

Mr Osei-Amoako Enti affirmed that it is easy to get registered for health insurance as it is now biometrically done

With technological advancements, Mr Osei-Amoako Enti stated that a person can get registered onto the health insurance scheme by sitting in the comfort of their homes without the stress of going to the offices. He said registration can be done through the “MyNHIS” app as well as renewal of health insurance status through the * 929# shortcode.

Health insurance scheme, according to him takes care of about 95% of ailments reported at health centres.

For health insurance premiums, Mr Osei-Amoako Enti asserted that there are categories, and new members would require an individual to pay a premium of 20 cedis, with the processing fee being 8 cedis.
