Eschew Mindset Of Impossibility And Embrace Possibility Mindset – Bawumia To African Countries

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has challenged Africa to eschew the mindset of impossibility and embrace a possibility mindset to get to the levels of other developed continents.

He reiterated the need for that positive mindset while putting systems in place to bring the needed change.

Addressing the participants at the Harvard Universities African Development Conference in the US, Vice President Bawumia said the continuous reliance on ineffective systems in Africa is the bane of the continent’s economic growth and development.

According to him, most countries on the continent make decisions in the governance and management of their economies without any proper and consolidated data.

He noted that this has resulted in economic policies and decisions not realizing the expected outcome.

“African countries have been trying to transform their economies without data. Governments are taking critical decisions without being informed by the data because the systems that are under pining the economies are not generating the data for decision making,” Vice President stated.

He touted the achievements his government has chalked with the introduction of digitisation.

“So when our government assumed office in 2017, we made an ambitious decision to address all of these problems of the lack of unique identity address systems immediately and simultaneously. We chose digitalisation as the vehicle and this is why digitalisation has been a major area of focus for our government,” He said.
