A Senior Computer Programmer, Larry Donkor has cautioned the public against sharing important information on the internet, especially on social media.
Mr Donkor, in an interview with Mr Tee on the Blueprint Show, talking about Cyber Security Awareness indicated that creating awareness on cyber security in this digital age is necessary.
According to him, using of the internet to transmit information can be either good or bad to an individual, especially with whom the information is shared.
He notes that individuals should be vigilant when sharing information, and encourages people to protect themselves while using cyberspace.
He nonetheless, encouraged users of digital gadgets to protect personal information on devices such as laptops and mobile phones in order not to end up in the wrong hands.
Mr Donkor mentions revenge porn, sexting, cyber grooming and cyberbullying as some threats faced by children who find themselves on social media.
He advised parents to consistently monitor the sites visited by their children, as well as the activities they wards engage in on their phones and laptops. Mr. Donkor again urged parents to provide children with basic education on the usage of the internet to reduce the risk of attacks.
