Residents of Sekondi – Takoradi Lauds Government For Ongoing Works In The Metropolis

The expansion of the Sekondi to Takoradi road is steadily progressing as contractors are busily on-site.

The road which links the people of Sekondi, Kweikuma, Adiembra and Fijai to Takoradi is undergoing reconstruction.

As part of the government’s year of roads initiative, some roads in the Metropolis have been selected to undergo rehabilitation.

In an interview with Beach Newsroom, residents contend that the region contributes enormously to the growth of the country’s economy, and there’s a need for its people to have an equal share of the national cake.

Therefore the provision of road infrastructure in the capital is in order.

Some drivers were upbeat about the project saying, its completion will bring relief as they will spend less on repairs and maintenance.

” The expansion of the road will help reduce traffic congestion as we drivers tend to lose fuel and time as we stay longer in traffic. The expansion of the road is a good call for us.”

“We asked the workers when the project is to last and they answered that within the next three months, the work will start. We will benefit a lot from this project as there won’t be much traffic congestion.
The rate of accident will also reduce to it’s barest minimum.
The current administration is fond of abandoning project in the region. Road projects from Apowa to Mpohor have still not been constructed even though a sod has been cut severally.”

“We don’t want them to abandon this project as they have done to others. The road can be expanded further to Inchaban and Beposo. The region contributes a lot to the economy of the country, and so we plead with them to finish or else we would demonstrate against them.”

Some passengers on the other hand, though lauded the project complain about the inconveniences such as the usual heavy traffic due to the ongoing works, they nonetheless expressed gratitude to the government for considering the region because the road will bring lots of changes.

“There are enormous benefits we will derive from road construction. We are glad the government has taken up this initiative because traffic on this stretch will be reduced when the project is completed. Most times we waste time in traffic when we close from work.
We plead with the workers and the contractor to hasten with the work and not abandon it but it will complete it to benefit everyone.”

“I’m happy about the expansion of the road project because, during rush hours, traffic congestion always is a problem for both drivers and passengers.
We pray they speed up work to ease traffic on the road.”
