“We Are Hungry, Stop Using Our Intellectual Properties “- Amy Newman

Ghanaian most celebrated gospel musician, Amy Newman says, she does not benefit from the income of her mainstream music.

In an interview with Macall Mensah on Midmorning lounge on Beach fm 105.5 MHz, the Veteran gospel musician mentioned that the old gospel artists did not enjoy much of the fruit of their labour and thus are expecting to enjoy more in this century as there are more advanced music platforms.

However, new artistes use their craft through cover ups to generate income of which there is no copyright.

“It pains a lot because people think music is a lazy man’s work. You put in a lot of hard work, time, prayer, and fasting and after releasing the song, somebody will take the song and make a cover on their platforms which will generate them income”

She advises new artists to consult her if there is a need to use her craft to prevent any copyright infringement.

“This time I’m not going to entertain it. If you’ve used my craft, come see me before I sue for copyright. During our time of production, social media wasn’t developed as it is now, so we didn’t make a lot from our works” she cautioned.
