GTA, Raybow and Hillcrest Hotels Hold Reception for Hasaacas Ladies

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the Raybow Hotel International and the Hillcrest Hotel have held a reception for Western Region’s favourite women’s team, Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies FC upon returning from the maiden Zone B of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Women’s Champions in Cote D’ Ivoire where they emerged champions.

The Hasaacas Ladies team received the nod to represent Ghana in the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League by the Ghana Football Associations, (GFA) after winning the women’s league in Ghana. They are currently the most successful women’s club in Ghana after winning the Women’s League on 3 different occasions.

The GFA settled on the Sekondi-based women’s club after receiving a notification from the subcontinental football governing body, the West African Football Union – B (WAFU B) on submission of the name of the representing club by close of business, March 31, 2021.

According to Article 2 section 2.3 of the CAF Women’s Champions League 2021 Regulation, the GFA Executive Council is permitted to decide on which team represents Member Associations in the Champions League.

Hasaacas Ladies were champions of the GFA Normalization Special Competition, hence gaining the nod of the Association to play in the competition.

In his welcome address, Mr Tony Adiaba, Manager of the Raybow Hotel International commended and congratulated the team for their hard work and determination throughout their endeavours which has made the region proud deserving to be celebrated.

Mr George Nkrumah Ansere, Western Regional Director of the GTA said he personally visited the team in most of their training sessions and was happy that their commitment and determination had yielded results.

He announced that the GTA and the GFA have signed a policy agreement to use football as a tool for tourism promotion since it has a lot of prospects and links.

He pointed out that the use of sports to promote tourism was key to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts (MoTAC) hence the partnership with the GFA.

Mr Nkrumah further commended the Raybow Hotel and Hillcrest Hotel for putting together the reception and also the Publicity Services for providing the team with banners to project their victory.

Janet Egyiri

Madam Adtain Nsiah Asare, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Club expressed her profound gratitude to the Executive, Management and the playing body for their dedication and support to the team.

The Captain of the team, Janet Egyiri on her part attributed their victory to the massive support from fans in particular and called for the same support and prayers during the Egypt Tournament.
