2020 Presidential Results Gazetted

The latest development arising from the December 7 general polls is that the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has taken a bold step as mandated by law to gazette the 2020 Presidential Election Results.

This was done in accordance with Article 63 (9) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

Article 63 (9) of the constitution reads as; An instrument which a.is executed under the hand of the Chairman of the Electoral Commission and under the seal of the Commission; and b. states that the person named in the instrument was declared elected as the President of Ghana at the election of the President, shall be Prima facie evidence that the person named was so elected.

This provision as exercised by the EC makes the declaration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo void, and the gazetted results an evidence of his legitimacy to be recognized as the President elected through an electoral process.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo had already nominated his Transition Committee Team whose work started today, and is expected to continue for the ensuing weeks till January 2021.

Below is a copy of the notification of the gazetted results signed by the Chairperson of the EC of Ghana
