Blame President Akufo Addo For Forest Reserves And River Bodies Destruction -Aboagye Boampong Jabs

Aboagye Boampong, A Pan Africanist, says President Akuffo Addo is responsible for the incessant destruction of water bodies and forest reserves by illegal mining activities in some parts of the country.

According to him, the President being the Commander-in-Chief of the Army Forces is using the military to protect perpetrators of illegal mining and not to fight against the menace.

He said this in relation to Akonta mining, who were caught mining in the forest reserves of the Tano- Nimere. Mr Boampong laments on the President’s inability to crack the whip on members of his party who are found culpable of engaging in ‘galamsey’ menace.

He noted that the President’s promise of fighting illegal mining has yielded no results.

“From the cabinet. Ministers, DCEs and businessmen who have the president prosecuted for engaging in illegal mining, if he’s not able to deal with those in his space how will he tackle this menace on a large scale, those mentioning chief should desist from it and lets all focus on calling out the President,” Boampong said.

Mr Boampong posits that the President cannot deny knowledge of some of his ministers being involved in galamsey unless he’s not updated by the happenings in the country.

“Truth be told the President cannot deny he’s in the known of ministers who are operating in the illegal mining space. All the intelligence machinery is at his disposal unless he’s just sitting back and listening to reports solely from his appointees.

We can all attest that not every detail will be communicated accurately. He probably put his presidency on the line just for votes, and he’s won power already, so he doesn’t care any longer.

If the President is truly committed to the fight we should see its fruition, we are all blaming the President because he is our head of state, with this approach he will see the seriousness in our quest to fight this menace,” He added.
