62 Parliamentary hopeful to contest for 17 seats in Western Region

Information available to Spice News indicates that as at the closing of nomination by the Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) Friday, 9th October, 2020 at 5:00 pm, 60 persons from eight political parties have filed their nomination forms for the Parliamentary race in the Western Region to contest for the 7th December general elections.

Meanwhile, two (2) Independent candidates (Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency and Jomoro Constituency) also filed their nomination forms for the Parliamentary race to contest in the December 07, general elections.

Among the eight political parties that featured candidates to contest in the Parliamentary race in the region are NPP, NDC, PPP, GUM, NDP, CPP, GCPP and APC. 

Meanwhile, among the 62 candidates filed to contest the Parliamentary race in the region are nine (9) females with one going as Independent candidate.

Madam Angelina Tagoe, Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission who gave the statistics said, all the forms of the Candidates were vetted at the point of receipt by the Returning Officers as prospective candidates.

She announced that the five-day exercise was generally peaceful and smooth without any incident.

Meanwhile, the full list of political parties and their candidates as well as independent Presidential candidates who filed for the general elections are Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (NPP), John Mahama  (NDC), Brigette Akosua Dzogbenuku (PPP) and Christian Kwabena Andrews (GUM).

Others are Akua Donkor (GFP), Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings (NDP), Hassan Ayariga (APC), Ivor Kobina Greenstreet (CPP), Henry Herbert Lartey (GCPP), Akwasi Addae odike (UPP), Kwasi Busumbru (PAP), Nana Agyenim Boateng (UFP), Percival Kofi Akpaloo (LPG) and David Asibi Ayinde Baba Apasera (PNC).

The Independent Presidential aspirants are Kofi Koranteng with Carl Asare Morgan as Runningmate, Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker with Jacob Osei Yeboah as Runningmate and Marricke Kofi Gane with Kenneth Ofosu-Barko as Runningmate.
