The Metropolitan Chief Executive nominee for Sekondi Takoradi, Alhaji Mumin Issa has promised to embarked on massive infrastructure drive to restore the old glory or image of Sekondi Takoradi as a preferred destination that prides its self as an industrial Hub of the country.
According to him the state of road infrastructure in the metropolis does not befit Sekondi Takoradi as a Metropolis therefore there is the need for some road infrastructure to see a face lift.
“There is something in the pipe line, from Harbor Round About to Sekondi, Kwame Nkrumah Round About to Harbour/ecobank round About), if god permit and I get the nod, all these roads are going be dualised. Takoradi has gone past using single lane roads”.
Speaking on adekye Mu Nsem on Spice 91.9 fm, he added that the bill for dualisation of the above roads and many other projects are currently pending for parliamentary approval.
“I have met regional minister, Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah, he told me that bill is currently at parliament pending for approval for loan to execute the project, this is a hint I am given you”
Lamenting on deplorable nature of roads in the Metropolis, he shared his personal experience and reiterated his commitment to ensure reconstruction or renovation of deplorable roads through effective lobbying to secure funds
“President has declared this year as year of roads, most of our ceremonial looks unkept, we will collaborate with urban roads to reconstruct or patch all potholes in the metropolis by lobbying to secure funds for these project when the need arises, Yesterday I was on my way to Rainbow Hotel around 7:30pm, there is a big pot whole between STC and Shippers council, I wouldn’t have known what would have happened I felt into it, this is worrying”
Assembly members in the Sekondi Takoradi Metroplotan Assembly on Friday are expected to participate in the voting process that will give the mayor nominee the Nod or not.
Abdul Mumin Issah would have to obtain a two-thirds majority of the votes of the assembly members to be confirmed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.
