A 29-year-old DJ employed at Coastal FM in Mankessim, known as Kwame Egyama and also a taxi driver, was discovered lifeless in a police cell located in Mankessim, situated in the Central Region.

Egyama’s arrest took place when he refused to halt during a routine inspection by a police unit, which subsequently led to his detention in the police cell. Sadly, he was found deceased within the cell the following day.

This tragic incident has stirred anger within the community, prompting widespread calls for justice. Community members are urging the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

The family of the deceased has expressed profound shock over the incident and is advocating for a thorough inquiry.

“There was a window at the cell and it would have been difficult for someone to commit a crime. What I heard was that after he committed the act the policemen on duty heard loud noise. They quickly rushed him to the hospital.

“He was not dead at the time but died while at the hospital. I want to know why no family member was present when they took him to the hospital.”
