Ghana Tourism Authority Celebrates Chocolate Day With Effia-Nkwanta Hospital

The Western Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has made a donation worth sums of money to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital (ENRH) in Sekondi in the Western Region as part of the Valentine’s Day celebrations.

The items mainly consisted of cocoa products like cocoa powder (both sweet and non sweet) and chocolates bars to be shared among patients at the Hospital.

Mr George Nkrumah Ansere, Western Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority who made the presentation explained that the donation was to show patients love and to remind them that the world outside thinks about them.

He touted the benefits of eating cocoa products, especially chocolate and said it has proven to be very rich in nutrition.

He divulged that chocolate has a powerful source of antioxidants, may reduce heart disease risk, may protect one’s skin from the sun, could improve brain function and, may improve blood flow and lower blood pressure.

Mr Nkrumah maintained that cocoa had good medicinal components and also acted as an immune booster and called on Ghanaians to eat more cocoa products especially in this era of COVID-19 to improve on their health.

Madam Mavis Attah-Gyamfi, a staff nurse, who received the donation on behalf of the Hospital commended the Ghana Tourism Authority for the kind gesture and promised to consume more local cocoa products.
