Court Drops Case Against Sekondi-Takoradi Mayor

The Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A, presided over by His Worship Michael Kwadwoe Ampadu, has cleared Abdul Mumin Issah, the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, of all allegations, including assaulting a public official, engaging in offensive behaviour, and disturbing the peace.

This occurs six days after President Nana Akufo-Addo restored the Mayor to office after a seven-month suspension stemming from an argument he had with Police Officer, Superintendent Andrew Sarfo in Kwesimintsim in February 2022.

The prosecutor for the state, Superintendent Stephen Billy Addum, filed a case of no interest in the case, and the court freed the mayor as a result.

Kojo Acquah, the Dean of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives in the Western Region, gave a statement following the proceedings in which he welcomed the most recent development.

On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Western Regional Minister who had been serving in the capacity of Sekondi-mayor, Takoradi’s officially returned the Assembly’s control to Abdul Mumin Issah, who had been reinstated by the President, during a brief ceremony.
