To achieve herd immunity for COVID-19, the public is advised to get vaccinated to protect themselves from getting infected.
At a day’s engagement with the risk communication committee in the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, EKMA, a public health officer at the Health Directorate, Madam Mavis Ankoma Sey, mentioned that there is still low intake of the COVID-19 vaccine in the municipality.
According to her, statistics indicate that some individuals have not been vaccinated at all.
Among other setbacks is the unwillingness of the populace to take the vaccine since the vaccination began.
Giving the figures on the vaccinated populace, Madam Mavis Sey pointed out that, there has been a dip in the numbers concerning individuals who have received the vaccination.
Madam Sey said that as part of measures to reach all and sundry, health workers will move from house to house, churches, and lorry parks to vaccinate people, adding that the vaccine is safe and efficacious.
