The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana has defended its recent decision to impose a cap of GH¢1000 on cash withdrawals per transaction, effective December 1, 2023.
Expressing dissatisfaction with their longstanding issues of insufficient compensation, the association clarified that the move aims to highlight their concerns and ensure the sustainability of their businesses.
Evans Otumfuo, the General Secretary, emphasized that despite previous attempts to address the issues with relevant stakeholders, including telcos and regulatory bodies, their grievances remain unaddressed.
As a temporary measure to advocate for fair compensation, Mobile Money agents across Ghana have collectively agreed to limit cash withdrawals to a maximum of GH¢1000 per transaction starting today, 1st December 2023.
