Bloody collision on the Tarkwa-Takoradi route leaves two people dead

On Sunday, a bloody car collision along the Tarkwa-Takoradi route in the Western Region claimed the lives of two people.

The only names given for the deceased, who were reportedly lovers, were Francis and Raheal.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s bodies have been placed in the morgue of the Apinto Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

According to Mr. Daniel Amu, an eyewitness who reported the incident to the media, the accident occurred on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at about 23:50.

He said that two cars, a 150 Pickup and a Trailer truck with the license plates GC 8893-22 and GC 1732-Z, respectively, were involved in the collision.

The F-150 Pickup’s driver, who managed to flee after the collision, was a mechanic who had brought the car to Mr. Amu’s business for repairs, he claimed.

He claimed that the mechanic got into the car, drove off, picked up the deceased, and then proceeded to a bar to have fun.

On the Tarkwa-Takoradi highway, between the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Ghana National Fire Service office and Zen filling station, Ahwetieso branch, he was driving home when he strayed off his lane, struck the approaching truck, and killed the two.

After being notified, some officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Tarkwa Division, went to the scene of the accident to conduct an investigation and transported the dead to the mortuary.
