A United Kingdom MP said that after speaking out against contentious social media influencer Andrew Tate, she received bombardments of rape and death threats.

According to Alex Davies-Jones, the Labour member of parliament for Pontypridd, she received the abuse to her “inbox and my office.”

The British-American internet influencer, who gathered millions of followers for his polarizing content, was jailed in Romania as part of a human trafficking and rape investigation but denied all allegations.

Ms. Davies-Jones hailed her local police unit for its help during a Commons debate on neighborhood policing.

“I’d like to put on record my own thanks to all of the local police in my south Wales area who have been an immense support to me in the recent weeks after I have spoken out about the horrendous abuse and behaviour of Andrew Tate online. As a result, my own inbox and my office have been bombarded with death threats, rape threats”, she said.

The MP praised the police response as “brilliant,” but said that unfortunately this isn’t the case for everyone who encounters the same.

During Prime Minister’s Questions earlier in January, Ms. Davies-Jones expressed concern over the influencer’s impact on schoolboys.

According to the MP, “teachers are now having to develop their own resources to re-educate boys who are being brainwashed online by his deeply toxic messaging.”
