Sex Workers at Sekondi Railway Station Refute Claims Of Selling Sperms To Spiritualists

Sekondi Railway Station sex workers have debunked speculations on the sale of sperms of customers to spiritualists.

Sekondi Railway Station, a desolate train station which was once buzzing in the early years has now turned into a hideout for unscrupulous persons and haven for commercial sex workers in the area.

A lady who spoke to Spice News on the condition of anonymity, stated that there is no truth in the allegations leveled against them. In her submission, she admitted that, as prostitutes, they ensure that; used condoms are disposed off safely after going through inspection from the volunteers.

“There are volunteers here, who ensure that we properly dispose used condoms to prevent bad people from laying hand on it. We even refuse our customers who request to take away the used condoms because we fear for our lives as they could use it for fetish purposes.” She said.

She further added that the introduction of volunteer groups have brought peace and calm in the area, and that those living in the area are not recalcitrant as people perceive.

She recounted that financial constraints is the major setback in their work, where male customers who patronize their services refuse to pay them and also cheat them on the agreed price.

For his part, the Assistant Chairman of the Volunteer group at the Sekondi Rail Way Station, Ato Robert retorted that the formation of the volunteer group is to detect and flash out criminals in the area who drag the name of the area in the mud.

He blamed some of the community leaders for peddling false news in the media about the Rail Way area stating that most of the towns have similar practices on going in their areas but no one talks about them.

He says, going forward the volunteers would dig out a trench where the prostitutes would bury their waste generated from their day to day activities.

The Assembly man for the Ridge Ministries Electoral Area, Mr. S.K. Mensah observed that, his office in collaboration Social Welfare engaged youth ladies into trading activities such as dressmaking, hair dressing amongst others as a means of nipping the menace in the bud.

“We enrolled some of the 11 young girls to learn dressmaking and hairdressing after engaging in talks with them. Some of these girls come from New Takoradi, Kojokrom and environs,” he said.

Mr. Mensah narrated that, he was able to identified and submitted names of leaders, who recruit these young leaders into such acts, to the Assembly for an action to be taken.

He claimed that some of the expatriates, who are mostly Nigerians are the culprit in practicing prostitution.

Mr. Mensah revealed that the area has become a dangerous place because of the practices carried out here.
