Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Joseph Bawa has said, the reshuffle of the parliamentary reps of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) comes as no surprise.
Speaking to Matilda Youpele on Beach Newsroom, Mr.Bawa noted that this is the first time, the party is having a reshuffle when it is not in power.
According to him, considering the position of the party, the reshuffle is unhealthy for the internal stability of the party.
He added that there are consequences that come with such changes in a political party that can disturb the peace of a country, and called on Ghanaians to be interested in such matters.
Mr. Bawa nonetheless wondered if there were broader consultations within the party before the said changes were affected.
The National Democratic Congress has reshuffled its leadership in parliament, sparking mixed reactions on its front in the legislative house.
In a letter addressed to the speaker, Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale-South who until now has been the NDC’s Minority Leader has been replaced by Cassiel Ato Forson, MP for Ajumako Enyan Esiam.
James Klutse Avedzi, MP for Ketu-North who was his deputy is being replaced by Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah. MP for Ellembele Constituency, while Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP for Adaklu Constituency replaces Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, MP for Asawase in the Ashanti Region as the Chief Whip.
However, Ahmed Ibrahim and Comfort Doyo-Ghansah First and Second deputy Whips respectively have maintained their positions.
