Government declares April 18 and April 21 as official public holidays

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Friday, April 18, 2025, and Monday, April 21, 2025, will be observed as statutory public holidays across Ghana.

In a statement released on Monday, Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak confirmed that the two days—Good Friday and Easter Monday—will be recognized nationwide.

Good Friday, observed by Christians worldwide, commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is recognized as a solemn day of mourning and reflection. Easter Monday, which follows Easter Sunday, celebrates the resurrection and is often marked by family gatherings and outdoor festivities.

The Ministry has encouraged the public to observe these holidays in keeping with the nation’s laws and cultural traditions.
