We are committed to improving teachers’ conditions—Haruna Iddrisu

The Minister-designate for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured teachers that their conditions will be enhanced under President John Mahama’s administration.

However, he emphasized that the extent of these improvements will depend on the economic situation and what it permits.

During his vetting in Parliament on Monday, January 20, Hon. Haruna stated, “We will enhance the conditions of teachers as much as the economy allows.”

Haruna Iddrisu emphasized that the government will prioritize access, quality, and relevance in tertiary education.

To achieve these goals, the government plans to focus on expanding infrastructure to improve educational access.

Regarding Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Hon. Haruna revealed that they plan to establish modern STEM schools in every region.

He also reassured that President John Mahama would not cancel the Free Senior High School program, but instead, would expand it and subject it to a review.

Additionally, he affirmed that they would give true meaning to free, compulsory, and universal education.
